Are walks a stressful nightmare?

Are household manners missing?

Would you like a calm dog that listens to you?

Get the dog your dreamed of!

Get the dog your dreamed of!

When you got your a dog you probably had an idea in your head how things were going to be. You dreamt of long walks on the beautiful Dorset beaches or in out stunning woodlands.

It can be a shock when your dog owning reality turns out very different and you find yourself trying to manage challenging behaviour that leaves you baffled and frustrated.

Before you know it you are running your life around your dog’s behaviour. You find yourself creeping out at odd times to take them for a walk.

Yes, you’ve become….a midnight walker!

Your dog's reactivity

If you have a reactive dog, you have probably tried all sorts of techniques to deal with it. There is plenty of 'advice' available online. Some of it is harmless, but a lot of it is just awful and damaging for your dog.

But, the truth is you can't train out reactivity with a gadget, a prong collar or lead snapping.

Fixing reactivity has to start with a 'why'. What is driving your dog's emotions? We must look at your dog holistically, not just focus on the behaviour.

Reactivity is your dog's emotional response to the environment. Often driven by anxiety, frustration or lack of confidence. This is where we need to work.

We can rebuild your relationship, your walk and your dog's household manners.

It's dog behaviour rather than dog training. The difference is huge.

Online Behaviour Consultations

Booking an online dog behaviour consultation can be incredibly convenient for people with busy schedules, childcare responsibilities, or mobility challenges.

If you're juggling work or caring for children, the flexibility of an online session allows you to fit consultations into your day or evening.

For those with mobility issues or living in remote areas, online consultations remove the need for travel, making expert help accessible to everyone.

Some dogs don’t perform well under pressure and don’t enjoy the presence of a trainer. The online approach also allows your dog the opportunity to work and grow confidence in their natural environment.

Less stress also allows your dog to be evaluated when more relaxed, which can lead to more accurate assessments and tailored advice.

Puppy confidence training

Puppy confidence training

Sit, stay, paw and other behaviours taught at puppy classes are great, but are they skills that transfer to real-world situations?

Often, classes teach your pup that other dogs are either scary and need to be barked at or super exciting and need to be investigated. Both can lead to lunging and barking at other dogs in the street or park. What is cute and acceptable when your dog is a puppy, becomes difficult and dangerous once your dog is fully grown.

Build the confidence to ignore novel distractions, people, other dogs, noises . Grow the ability to stay with you on a walk (even off lead), ignore other dogs and walk without pulling.

Grow a confident, happy puppy work 1-2-1 or in small groups.

Is your dog a little on the chubby side?

Am I the right dog trainer for you?

Finding the right dog trainer is important for both you and your dog. Here’s what you need to know before working with me:

Force-Free Training Philosophy

I am a force-free dog trainer & behaviour coach and I teach positive reinforcement techniques to help your dog learn and thrive.

If you believe in or use punishment-based, aversive methods (e.g., shock collars, physical corrections), I am not the right trainer for you. My goal is to create a positive and trusting relationship between you and your dog.

Commitment and Patience Required

Unpicking and rebuilding your dogs behaviour is a process that takes time, consistency, and commitment. I won’t be able to solve everything in just one session. You’ll need to dedicate time each day to working on the training exercises I provide. My turning up won't resolve the issue for you. Progress depends on the effort and time you put in outside of our sessions.

Willingness to Follow Advice and Make Changes

Effective training often requires changes to your daily routine and interactions with your dog. You must be open to following my advice, adjusting your approach, and making changes that will benefit your dog’s learning and behaviour.

Training Through Shaping games.

Training should be fun for both you and your dog. Many of my methods involve playing games that reinforce positive behaviours. You will need to actively participate in these training games and practice regularly with your dog to see results.

Before we begin, we'll start with an online consultation to discuss your dog's needs, your goals, and to make sure we're the right fit for each other. This will also give you a chance to ask any questions you may have and get a feel for my training style.

Mobility

Dog training should to be accessible to everyone, regardless of physical abilities. If you have mobility challenges or specific needs, I will do my best to modify training methods to ensure you can participate comfortably.

Please let me know about any accommodations you may need, and together we’ll create a plan that works for you and your dog.

Client Testimonials

  • Louise helped with some training for my young, excitable Cockapoo, Rocco. We used games and techniques to help calm his behaviour and get him listening more, and I learnt a lot about what we can do as a family to help him behave better. Louise is friendly to work with, and she was very flexible with session timings during our household encounters with both covid and kennel cough 🙂

  • Louise came in to help us with our beagle. She was great and has given us the tips we need to move forward to a calmer and less bouncy beagle.

  • OMG where do I start, we knew are dog had a little bit of baggage due to the start she had as a puppy. Calling Louise was easily the best thing we could have done for her and us. Our nervous and slightly scared dog has become the most beautiful and confident dog, she still has a way to go as she has her moments but don’t we all. We are so grateful to Louise for helping our dog become this gorgeous bundle of fur who now responds and listens. Louise has made such a huge impact on all of us, we all look forward to her visits and we will be sad when her work is done. She is the Nanny McPhee of the dog world “If you want her but you don’t need her she has to has to go” Thank you so much Louise for showing us the way.

  • Dog Reactivity course; How good is your dog at recall? Answer – None Before I started this reactive 6 weeks course, our recall didn’t exist. Sitting in the class room I realised everyone in the room also had issues with their dogs. On the course we focused on calm behaviour and practical skills was given hand outs. I absolutely loved tackling reactivity training & would recommend it. Thank you Louise
